-------
The navy department yesterday announced the death by drowning of Stanley Elliott Signer, a 22 year old jackie at Great Lakes. He was a son of Charles B. Signer of 6809 Union avenue, special representative of the United States railroad administration and secretary of the Traffic Club of Chicago. Young Signer was drowned last Sunday off Ravinia park, when he dived in the lade to rescue a bather, but he was not identified in the newspapers as a Chicago boy until yesterday because of the fact that the Great Lakes authorities gave his last name as 'Elliott' instead of Signer. He was not familiar with the water off Ravinia and his father believed he dived against a submerged piling.
He was a member of the Southgate Masonic lodge No. 968 and of the Anchor and Ark club of Waukegan. He was buried at Mount Greenwood with military and Masonic honors, 300 naval cadets led by a section of the Great Lakes band forming the guard of honor.
