ERNEST HOFFMANN, Boston, Mass., 1899 - Tunica, Miss., January 3, 1956
Killed with his wife in a head-on collision while driving back from a Christmas visit to his son in Houston, this excellent musician will be sorely missed by his colleagues in the Music School of Indiana University at Bloomington. Educated at Harvard College and later in Germany, Mr. Hoffmann served for twelve years as conductor of the Houston Orchestra, then moved to Bloomington, where he conducted the Philharmonic Orchestra and officiated at many of the fine operatic productions at the University.
